Founder and CEO, Dr. Joel Wynhorst, developed Organic Ocean® following his PhD research on seaweed aquaculture. Joel found that seaweed is a vastly underutilised resource in Australia and that sustainable cultivation to harness the power of its health benefits was almost non-existent. Development of locally grown and scientifically proven products became the focus of Organic Ocean®.

The naturally high antioxidant content of our chosen seaweed, which is grown in highly controlled aquaculture system, is further enhanced through our specialised bio-processing method, where we extract the good stuff and put it in a form which is actually absorbable and useable by your body. Our Co-Founder Dr. Alexis Chung, during her PhD, helped develop this research. It shows how the powerful natural compounds in our seaweed reduce harmful stress and inflammation in the body, helping you stay healthier and happier without the need for over-reliance on isolated compound synthetic drugs.

Dietary calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron and iodine are also linked directly to human heart health, bone strength, gut function, mental capacity and blood pressure. To optimise the benefits of the Organic Ocean® seaweed and its products, several growth trials were conducted to identify how variables such as sunlight, nutrients, temperature and water flow impacted the seaweed’s health and nutritional profile.
